Latest Work: Hotwheels.com


Following a few months in our workshop, the garage doors have opened and the shiny new Hot Wheels site is now ready for all to see.

There's a lot more to the update than go-faster stripes and a bigger spoiler, and our team worked tirelessly to deliver a site that could lay down the power where it counts...

Why the Refurb?

The original Hot Wheels site, although pretty, was a very different beast to the newly-launched site; content was static and updates were time-consuming to make. This would have been fine if the team at Mattel were happy to truck along changing the tires once in a while. 

Not so - Mattel wanted a site that embodied the Hot Wheels brand: fast-moving, exciting, and driven by creativity.

A new site was clearly needed, so Work at Play worked with the dedicated team at Mattel, to create an experience which would keep pace with the ever changing line-up of cars, videos and games.

Under the hood

In addition to a full re-design there's a Drupal CMS at the heart of the site - this allows Mattel to remain firmly at the wheel, managing content more efficiently and with more control.
The benefits are all-round; users have fresh new games and videos every day, and can collect cars from the '09 series right through to the very latest additions.
